Breakfast Chef

Contract: Full Time, 42 hours a week
Location: The Nigel Doughty Academy, Nottingham, NG2 7SR
Working Arrangements: On site
Works alongside our Chefs to manage daily menu preparation, ensuring food quality, consistency and freshness. Predominantly focusing on the breakfast & lunch service of the First Team and Academy.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Preparing, cooking and presenting high quality nutritious dishes within the given specification
- Assisting the Head Performance Chef in creating menu items
- Preparing Breakfast & operating the Live Cooking session
- Preparing Carbohydrates, vegetables, vegetarian, protein (meat and fish)
- Assisting with the management of health and safety
- Assisting with the management of food hygiene practices
- Managing and training any Commis Chefs
- Monitoring portion and waste control
- Overseeing the maintenance of kitchen and food safety standards
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
- City & Guilds 706/1 | 706/2 Catering or NVQ Level 2
- Level 2 Food Safety Award
- Minimum 4 years relevant experience
- Awareness of manual handling techniques
- Awareness of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (COSHH) and chemical safety
- Experience of kitchen equipment
- Experience of dangerous equipment such as knives
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Good communication skills
- Good level of numeracy
- Enthusiasm to develop your own skills and knowledge plus those around you
- Adaptability to change and willingness to embrace new ideas and processes
- Positive and approachable manner
- Excellent team player
- Understandable level of English spoken and written
