About the Role:
Nottingham Forest FC is providing two placement positions for students studying an MSc in Sport Performance Analysis during the 2025-26 academic year.
In this unique opportunity, the successful candidates will support the performance analysis team in their delivery to the First Team squad under the supervision of the Performance Analysis staff at Nottingham Forest FC’s Nigel Doughty Academy training facility. This will include assisting and/or leading on- and off-pitch-based analysis feedback sessions with coaches and players and the collection of game model and individual performance data to support player development.
Further to this, Nottingham Forest FC will provide CPD development opportunities to supplement the placement experience with a comprehensive internal program of events and reflective practices.
This internship opportunity will run from August 2025 to May 2026 (flexible start dates can be discussed to accommodate the start of the MSc program) and aims to upskill successful applicants in analysis session delivery, working with a variety of stakeholders and benchmarking, monitoring, and reviewing technical and tactical performance data.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Film, (live) code, and feedback on games and training in line with Nottingham Forest FC’s game model and individual technical KPI’s.
- Communicate performance analysis feedback with coaches, players, performance analysis staff and the wider multidisciplinary staff to aid player development.
- Help with the collection, storage, visualisation, and analysis of key performance data.
- Use a variety of video and data sources to create and deliver age-appropriate analysis sessions to teams, units, and individual players.
- Sharing video and analysis sessions and engaging players in analysis feedback when players are both on and off-site.
- Be an active member of the performance support team, positively contributing to the team culture.
What are we looking for:
- Undertaking a master’s level degree in a sports science related degree
- Highly numerate with strong IT skills – applies logic to solve problems and has experience in the use of performance analysis software(s) to feedback actionable insights.
- Understands how analysis can influence the coaching process.
- Has good football understanding to develop the technical and tactical knowledge of players.
- Someone who is eager to develop and progress, both technically and in the softer skills of being an analyst.
- Someone who is highly organised, can work under pressure to deal with multiple tasks, and is forthcoming with ideas and assistance.
- Exhibits respect and understanding of others to build and maintain professional relationships.
