Maintenance Mechanical Engineer

Contract: Full Time, 42 hours a week
Location: The City Ground, Nottingham, NG2 5FJ and The Nigel Doughty Academy, Nottingham, NG2 7SR

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be responsible for performing maintenance, installation, fault diagnosis, and repair work on a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment in both industrial and commercial settings. You will play a critical role in ensuring machinery and systems operate efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Perform planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on mechanical systems and machinery.
- Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems, including pumps, compressors, HVAC systems, plumbing and drainage systems.
- Install new mechanical systems and equipment according to technical drawings and specifications.
- Carry out modifications, upgrades, and improvements to existing machinery and systems.
- Troubleshoot mechanical breakdowns and respond to emergency maintenance requests.
- Ensure that all work complies with health and safety regulations and company policies.
- Perform testing, inspections, and condition monitoring of mechanical equipment.
- Assist with continuous improvement initiatives and projects to enhance efficiency and reduce downtime.
- Work collaboratively with electrical engineers, production teams, and other departments.
- Complete accurate reports, maintenance logs, and relevant documentation.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and apprentices when required.
Skills, Experience and Knowledge:
- NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a multi-skilled mechanical engineer, ideally in an industrial or commercial setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, HVAC, and rotating machinery.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, including LOLER and PUWER.
- Experience with condition monitoring and predictive maintenance techniques is advantageous.
- Basic electrical knowledge is beneficial (though not essential).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication skills and ability to work well in a team.
- Full UK driving licence (if required for the role).
